Mary D. Cantrell, age 87, of Forest City, NC and most recently of White Oak Manor of Rutherfordton, passed away Saturday, October, 1, 2011 at Hospice House of Rutherford County in Forest City, NC.

She was the wife of the late Ronald Devon Cantrell, marrying in March of 1944, with Ronald passing away in December, 1978.

Youngest of four children, she was born June 14, 1924 to the late Thomas Clifton and Mallie Callahan DeBrule, residents of the Henrietta community. In adult life she resided in the Alexander Mills, Danieltown, and Harris Communities.

Mary was a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was noted as an exceptional cook and homemaker. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church of Harris.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, George R. DeBrule of Alexander Mills, a sister, Ruby ( Mrs. Roy McFarland) of Bostic, and a sister, Virginia ( Mrs. Claude Smith) of Rutherfordton.

Left to cherish her memory: Sons, Ronald Keith Cantrell and wife Kaye Alexander Cantrell of Harris, Donald Ray Cantrell and wife Myra Kendrick Cantrell of Shiloh, Five Grandchildren, Ronald Keith Cantrell, Jr., Kerri Cantrell Campfield, Rhonda Cantrell Jones, Shannon Skipper, Crystal Skipper Deviney, 14 Great Grandchildren, a niece, two nephews and loving friends Geneva Flynn and son Mark Flynn of Forest City.

Funeral Services will be held at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel, Three o'clock Monday, October 3, 2011, with the Rev. Terry Roach, Rev. Steven Matheny and Keith Cantrell officiating. Interment will be in the Alexander Mills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M. at McMahan's Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, or in addition to them, the family requests memorials in her honor be made to: Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

The family sincerely appreciates the care, love and kindness extended by White Oak Manor of Rutherfordton, Rutherford Regional Hospital and especially Hospice of Rutherford County.
