Ellen M. Burns, age 59, of El Cajon, Ca, died Tuesday evening, May 24 at Zion Hospital in San Diego with her brother and close California friends at her side.
Ellen was born on November 29, 1951 in Marshall to Douglas F. Burns and Janet (Granger) Burns. She was a graduate of Marshall High School, Class of 1969. Following her graduation from Oakland University, she relocated to San Diego and worked for the San Diego Union Newspaper and General Dynamics. She discovered her dream career ten years ago as a veterinary technician at Steele Canyon Vet Hospital in Jamul, Ca. She was loved dearly by her co-workers and any animal in her care. Her compassion for all animals and people in her world was evident by her actions. Ellen enjoyed gardening, music, and puttering around the home she cherished. Her heart was huge and her home was always opened to any friends, 2 or 4 legged, who needed her help. She very much enjoyed her visits home to Marshall, especially the years her beloved class of 69 held reunions. She loved her family and the old homestead where she peacefully wandered the property. Having been a Schulers waitress during college, she loved dining there, and of course, many trips to Louie�s.
............... She was preceded in death by her parents in March of 1992.
A memorial celebration will be held Sunday, May 30, 2011 at La Mesa Recreation Center, 5045 Memorial Drive, La Mesa, CA 91942. Tentatively, family will locally receive friends on Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 11AM to 1PM at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 723 US 27 North, Marshall with a memorial celebration to celebrate the gift of her life at 1PM. A luncheon will follow the celebration at the Kempf Funeral Home.
