Charles grew up in Arkansas and after his high school graduation, decided to serve our country in the United States Army. Upon returning home, he lived in Alaska for a brief time before moving to Houston, Texas. There, he met Brenda Butler in 1975. The two established a deep connection and were married on December 16, 1977. They had a full life together until Charles’ passing. Charles was wonderful with his hands and enjoyed using them for carpentry whenever he had the opportunity. For fun, he also liked to gold mine, play with his dog, Izzie, watch television, and to keep his mind challenged with the occasional puzzle. Charles was also a Sunday School teacher while he lived in Houston.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Butler Bass; sons, Christopher Lee Bass and fiancé, Franceska of Nacogdoches and Charlie Bass of Alaska; brother, Nicky Bass and wife, Janet of California; sister, Linda Johnson and husband, Melvin of Houston; and two grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie D. Bass and Mary Virginia Morris Bass. The family is being served by Laird Funeral Home. To send condolences or to sign an online register, please visit www.lairdfh.net.
