Donat Joseph Robert, 89, of 8 Front Street, Waterford, New York, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at his residence. He was born Monday, May 22, 1916 to Wilfred and Cordelia (nee Henry) Robert in Champlain, New York.
Don was the husband of Bernadette Dorthy (nee Cheney) Robert, who passed away on the same day in 1994.
Don had resided in Waterford, New York since 1929.
He was employed for 51 years at Turecamo Coastal And Harbor Towing Corporation, Staten Island, New York, and retired as chief engineer. He was a member of Local 333 of the United Marine Division of Staten Island and was regarded as an unofficial canal historian.
He was a former member of the Waterford Council of Knights of Columbus #237 and a communicant of Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford.
Don was father of Reverend Rene Wayne Robert, O.F.M. Conv. of Saint Augustine, Florida; Deborah A. (Terri O'Clair) Bedard of Watervliet, New York; Cecile Marie “Terry” (Walter William "Walt") Adams and Brian Edward (Gina) Robert, all of Waterford, New York. He was grandfather of Stacey and Keith Adams, Yolanda Robert and Corey and Nicole Bedard. He was great-grandfather of Cameron Bedard and Olivia Adams. He was also survived by his furry canine companion, Cindy.

Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad Street (Route 32), Waterford, New York on Friday, March 24, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, March 25, 2006 from the funeral home and at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, 119 Broad Street, Waterford, New York, where a concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial was offered. His son, Father Rene Wayne Robert, was the principal celebrant. The Mass was interpreted for the deaf. Interment followed in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Middletown Road, Waterford, New York.
