Clara Mae Parker, 88, will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Wheatland Cemetery in Wheatland, Wyoming with Pastor Randy Simmons of the Faith Fellowship in Guernsey, Wyoming officiating.

Clara Parker died Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.

Clara Mae Parker was born on Thursday, February 23, 1928 in Orrick, Missouri to Etta Mae (Smith) and George Lee Parr. As she got older, she and her family moved to Lead, South Dakota where she graduated from high school. Clara loved being a Lead High School "Golddigger" and talked about it often.

She moved to California as a young adult during World War ll and worked for Douglas Aircraft Company. She met Wilbur Allen Parker and they were married September 5th, 1953. They returned to the family ranch and sawmill at Laramie Peak west of Wheatland. As their daughters got older, they purchased a home in Wheatland where the girls completed their education.

Clara worked for the Platte County School District #1 for many years. She first worked in the elementary lunchroom and then the high school library, all the time keeping a close eye on her children and grandchildren. She also ran the library at the Platte County Memorial Hospital and worked at the gift shop there.

The love of her life passed away in 1984 and Clara retired from the school district in 1987. During her retirement she enjoyed working in her yard, decorating her lovely home, and being with her friends and family.

Clara's greatest joy was her grandchildren. She loved to tell stories about them and they loved to hear them.

She acquired a wonderful friendship with Everett Nagel and they were the best of companions and had a standing Saturday night date at Vimbo’s for years.

Clara will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Terry) Kleven of Gillette, Wyoming, Lisa (David) Bye of Guernsey, Wyoming, and Bonnie Parker of Wheatland; grandson, Kelly (Penny) Simonton of Wheatland; and great-grandchildren, Carlie Bye, Hunter Bye, Kelly (Angela) Simonton Jr., and Kortni Simonton.

Clara was preceded in death by her father, George Parr, on January 6, 1983; mother, Etta Parr, on June 15, 1981 ; husband, Wilbur A. Parker on April 14, 1984; sister, Dorothy Parker; brother, George William “Buck” Parker; and grandson, Shawn Engle.
