additional info provided by FAG member Dawna Westbrook (47076696):

George was an ambulance driver according to his obituary and a known "assault artist" to police.
Son of Domenic and Angelina (Farrara) Balletto. Husband of H. Waunita (Taylor) Balletto.
George A. "Tiger" Balletto was murdered in the early morning, Aug 10, 1955 at a bar called Bella Napoli Cafe.
He was sitting at the bar "drinking, arguing and bragging" about fact he had half-strangled a 200 lb. sailor earlier in a demonstration of strength. A man stepped from rear of room and fired 7 shots into his head.
A witness to the slaying, Eddie Hannan, 41, was found murdered in Nov. 1955. His beaten, strangled body was found in a vacant lot. It wasn't known at the time if his death was related to George's murder of if people had wanted Hannan dead and used the Balletto murder as a cover-up.
The newspaper carried story with photo of George's body in article about unsolved gangland slayings.
