Barbara Jean Habben was born on February 1, 1935, in Sacred Heart Township, Renville County to Harold Alfred and Johanna (Fredrickson) Haug. As a child she lived in the Sacred Heart area and in Junior High Barb and her family moved to Minneapolis. Barb graduated from Minneapolis Central High School in 1952, and then attended classes at the University of Minnesota for a short time.
Barb was united in marriage to Lyle Habben on December 20, 1959, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. In addition to raising her family, Barb also worked as a secretary at the Sacred Heart School and later at the Renville School. She later worked for Telex, Blackbourn Industries, and finally for Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Co-op for many years. She was an active member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church where she sang in the church choir.
She enjoyed gardening, and loved music and singing.
Left to cherish her memory include her sons: Scott (and Lisa), Brett, Matt (and Heidi), and Kentt (and Emily); eight grandchildren: Alex, Lauren, Xochitl, Nathan, Jonas, Eleanor, Harold, and Hazel; her brother Harold and (Lorraine) Haug, and her sister Blanche Anderson, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lyle, and her sister Janet.
