Robert J. “Bob” Hofmann passed away April 21, 2016.
He was born November 25, 1923, in Moscow, Idaho to Henry and Grace Hofmann. He grew up in Moscow as the sixth of seven children on the family farm. He spent three years in the Navy after graduating from Moscow High School.
Bob attended University of Idaho, earning a degree in civil engineering in 1948. He was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.
His first job out of college was for Idaho State Department of Reclamation and two years later went to work for Idaho Fish and Game.
He met and married Louise (Grider) in Boise on February 23, 1952, and from there moved to Richland, Washington, where Bob worked for Blaw Knox Company-Hanford, WA, Atomic Energy Production Site. In 1954, Bob joined Morrison Knudsen (MK) Construction Company and served in many different positions that took him throughout the United States and international regions, retiring in 1989.
Bob was an active member of the Lyons Club, Optimist Club, volunteered as a Boy Scout leader, and was an eager community volunteer throughout his adult life.
Bob is survived by his wife, Louise; daughters: Kathe (Greg) and Mary (Mark); son, Rob; grandchildren: Megan, Adam, Sarah and Katie; sister, Jeanne; sister-in-law, Ruth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family would like to express deep appreciation for the love and care provided to Bob during his stay at Life Care Center of Treasure Valley. We would also like to extend appreciation to Legacy Hospice for their kindness and care.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, at the Meadow Creek Clubhouse, 5285 N Riffle Way, Garden City, Idaho 83714. A private family graveside service will be held at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
