She married Clifford Russell "Smitty" Smith on 25 Dec 1937, in Rockland. He was b 1 Oct 1911 in Orono, Me, the s/o Walter R Smith & Cassie E Burpee. He d 27 Jan 2003.
They had one son.
Ruth grew up in a house on Willow Street that had been built by her father. There were no electric lights until high school. One of her favorite things was dancing. She taught school in Hope, Me, but then returned to Camden to work in the Knox Linen Mill. They raised chickens (10,000) at a time for many years, until the price fell below 1/2 cent each......Clifford left high school after his junior year to work in construction. He just wanted to get away from the cows his father raised. In 1931 he earned 10 cents an hour helping to build the Waldo Hancock Bridge. A few years later he went to work for the Knox Mills at $12 a week. After he met Ruth, they dated for 4 years. His favorite car was the Modal "A" Ford." Ref Henthorne's Alexander Genealogy.
