It had been believed by some that Frances was the child of John W Kidwell from a marriage before his to Mary Ann Saylor as John & Mary had a marriage of 1855 about 10 months after Frances was born. Marriages taking place after a child or children's birth was a lot more common back then than we would like to think.
In addition the 1900 census states that Mary was the mother of eight children with six living. John Kidwell had eight children with six living at the time of his death. Their daughter Rosa died in 1878 and their son Charles died in 1882 that would leave six children including Frances. Also there is DNA that says I am the Great Great Granddaughter of Mary Saylor Kidwell. I am a DNA match to at least three different people who are descended from siblings of Mary A Saylor. Those siblings are the only connection I have to these three other people. Mary Ann Saylor is indeed the Mother of Frances. Wife of George William Swain. She was my Great Grandmother.

Mother of:
Rhoda L Swain Wolfersberger
Blanche M Swain Wright
Millard William Swain
George Lloyd Swain
Julia Butler Swain Lynn
Theodore Swain
Harry Spurrier Swain
Nora Doris Swain Butler
Frances Nancy Swain Lynn
John Carlton Swain
Urma Swain Smith
