Joyce Regina Stiwalt Guthrie, 83, of Bessemer City, passed away at CaroMont Regional Medical Center on June 10, 2022. She was born June 23, 1938, in Gaston County, to the late John and Viola Stiwalt.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George Guthrie, Sr., and sister, Merry Hollingshead.

Joyce was a homemaker, she worked in "gift wrap" at Matthews Belk and in the Bessemer City High School cafeteria. She was an avid gardener and working in her flowers was among her chief joys. She loved to travel and spend time with her family.

Her survivors include 3 children, Regina and her husband James Clark, Beverly and her husband Jerry Underwood and George "Bryan" Guthrie, Jr., daughter-in-law Kim Guthrie; special friends to the family Sandi Smith and Annie Stone; 2 brothers, Charlie and his wife Edith Stiwalt and Howard and his wife Linda Stiwalt; grandchildren, Casey Guthrie and his wife Katie and Shane Guthrie and 4 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM Monday, June 13, 2022, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home.

Joyce's funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home with Mr. Greg Swenson and Mr. Tylar Jayne officiating.

Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery
