David Edmund Rushing was born April 17, 1920, in Blue Ridge, TX, to parents David Howell Rushing and Grace Jessee Rushing. He went to be with Our Lord and Savior on April 24, 2016, in Farmersville, TX, at the age of 96.

After serving our country in WWII, Mr. Rushing married Mozell Martin in Blue Ridge, TX, on August 2, 1945. In 1950, the couple moved to Copeville to the family dairy farm and raised three children. He was a loving and devoted caregiver to his wife throughout her 24 year battle with Alzheimer‘s Disease. Mrs. Rushing preceded him in death in 1997.

In November of 1999, Mr. Rushing married Helen Sims Spinks, a former classmate, in Wills Point, TX. They lived there until her death in June 2005. Mr. Rushing then moved back to Farmersville, where he was living at the time of his death.

He was known as Daddy, Papaw, PawPaw, and Uncle D.E. to all of those who loved him. He was like a grandfather to all he met, including friends of his grandchildren and his own caregivers. He will forever be loved and missed.

Mr. Rushing was a Primitive Baptist. He was a Godly, honest, hard-working, and patriotic husband, father, and grandfather. He always said, “You have to put God first in your life or nothing will work out like it is supposed to,” and “When you pray, you pray that it is God’s will.”

Mr. Rushing was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one brother, and two sisters.

Mr. Rushing is survived by his son William and wife Jan Rushing of Prosper, his son Ronald Rushing of Copeville, his daughter Brenda and husband Ronny Skinner of Copeville, stepdaughter Donna Morris of Angleton, and stepson Powell Spinks of Wills Point.
