Terry was born on December 30, 1941 in Iowa City, IA, the son of Willis L. and Bertha (Seering) Carney. He grew up near Cantril, Iowa and graduated from the Milton High School. He was inducted into the United States Air Force on February 8, 1961 and served our nation as a jet engine technician in the 6515th Field Service Squadron during the Vietnam War. He was granted an honorable discharge on February 5, 1965. More recently, he had been employed at Cordes Ford in Waterloo and later as a technician at Rogers Furnace Cleaning in Waterloo before moving to the Iowa Veterans Home in 2004. Surviving are five brothers: Robert Carney of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Allen Carney of California, Ken Hussey of Waterloo, IA Lonnie Carney of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Keith Carney of Marion, IA. Also surviving are two sisters: Betty Miller of Lake Havasu, AZ and Patricia Rogers of Brandon, IA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Donald Carney
Services will be held at: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 8th at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery in Marshalltown with burial to follow. Military honors will be provided by the Frank-Lewis-Glick American Legion Post #46 of Marshalltown. Visitation times are: Cremation rites have preceded the service and no public visitation is planned. Memorials contributions may be directed to his family in his memory.
