Glen H. "Hobart" Arnold, 83, of Lomax, Ill., died at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born in Mason City, Ill., he was the son of Roy and Kathleen Lynch Arnold. On Nov. 29, 1944, he married Eileen List in Lincoln, Ill. She died Dec. 12, 1996. On June 1, 1997, he married Ila Reynolds.

Mr. Arnold farmed near Petersburg, Ill., and later worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections, first at the Illinois Youth Commission in Petersburg, Ill., and Marseilles, Ill., and later for the prison in Sheridan, Ill. He retired in 1984.

He was a member of Lomax Christian Church. He was a 1940 graduate of Mason City, Ill., High School, and later graduated from machinists school in Toldeo, Ohio. In 1986, he moved to Lomax, where he sharpened tools and saws in his shop. He was a 4–H Club leader. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping and working with children.

Survivors include two sons, Mike Arnold of Stronghurst and Andy Arnold of Marseilles; two daughters, Lorna Boston and Janice Arnold, both of Greenview, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great–grandchildren; one sister, Waunda Nessler of Phoenix; and one brother, Howard Arnold of Mason City, Ill.

Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, two sisters and three brothers.

The memorial service was held at Lomax Christian Church, with the Revs. John Bremmer and Peggy Stott officiating.
