Life Legacy

Dean C. Barlage, age 89, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. Michael Breach officiating. Organist will be Theresa Thiel.

Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, rural Wheaton. Pallbearers will be “Grandchildren” Bryan Barlage, Jennifer Lund, Curtis Barlage, Laurie Ness, Julie Kramer, Joleen Zerwas, Jaime Barry and Dean Barlage. Honorary Pallbearers will be Merlyn Barlage, Rev. Gordon Bock, Dean Krump, Jeff Krump, Daryl Rittenour, Dean Holtz, Richard Young, Bob Green and Ray Fiedler.

Visitation will be Friday, April 22nd from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Time of Sharing Service at the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton. Visitation will continue Saturday morning one hour prior to service time at the church.

Dean was born September 6, 1926 near Wheaton, Minnesota to James and Annie (Braaten) Barlage. He grew up on a farm north of Wheaton where he attended country school. Following his education he farmed with his father on the family farm. He was united in marriage to Delores Klindworth on October 6, 1944 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton. Delores passed away June 24, 1993.

Dean farmed his entire life but also worked road construction, delivered milk, and worked for the Wheaton Police Department. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle and had a love of horses.

Dean is survived by five children: David Barlage of Calimesa, California; Dennis (Karleen) Barlage of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; DeWayne (Janet) Barlage of Big Lake, Minnesota; DeAnn (Jack) Barry of Brainerd, Minnesota; and Daniel Barlage of Wheaton; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Willard Barlage of Muncie, Indiana; sister Eleanor (Rittenour) Auseth of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; and sister-in-law Ginger Thomas of Des Moines, Iowa.

Dean was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers: Gerald, Allen, and Edward and sister Margie.
