Pvt Brady was described as 5'6", blue eyes, brown hair and ruddy complexion. His civilian occupation was listed as plumber. He enlisted into the US Army at Cincinnati OH on September 15, 1875.

On October 21, 1875, Brady was assigned to Company F, 7th US Cavalry at Ft Lincoln, Dakota Territory.

During the Battle of the Little Bighorn Company F was attached to Custer's Battalion. Brady was killed sometime during the fighting.

After the battle many soldiers and their sorrel colored horses were found on and near Last Stand Hill. Some of their horses appeared to have been shot and used as last ditch barricades by the soldiers.

Brady's body was not identified. It is likely that his unidentified remains were buried on the battlefield, where they had been found.

In 1881 known soldier burials were moved to a mass grave on top of Last Stand Hill.
