The family moved to Oregon in 1958. Maxine was a homemaker and a seamstress. Maxine later worked at the House of Fabrics in Salem for 10 years until her retirement in 1989.
Maxine was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for 56 years. She loved the Lord and made sure that her children were raised in the church. She visited shut-ins, held office in the Ladies Circles, was active in the Altar Committee and made layettes and quilts for people in disadvantaged countries.
Maxine is preceded in death by her husband, Eldon; her parents, John and Hannah Knoedler; her brothers, Keith and Robert Knoedler; and her granddaughter, Melissa Walz. Maxine is survived by her children, Ronald Metcalf, Carolyn Walz, Shirley Beasley, and Cindy Fosdick, as well as 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Harold, Raymond, and Patricia.
On December 17, 2015, God called his loyal and faithful servant home.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 16, at Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4440 State St., Salem, OR.
