Michael Proch Sr., 70, of 2416 E. Washington St., who died at 2:55 p.m. Thursday in Jameson Memorial Hospital following a brief illness, will be buried following church rites from Holy Trinity Ukranian Orthodox Church on Sunday afternoon.
He was born in Galicia, Austria, on Nov. 25, 1892, son of the late Leo and Mary Proch. For 48 years he was the husband of the former Mary Checkas. He was a moulder with the U. S. National Radiator Corp. and the Crane Co. from which he retired some time ago.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Ukranian Orthodox Church and a past president of the church assembly. He also was a member of the Woodsmen of the World.
Surviving is his wife and nine children: Michael Proch Jr. of La Marque. Tex.; Leo Proch, Walter Procli, Joseph Proch and William Proch all in New Castle; Mrs. Peter (Katherine) Yarema, Mrs. Clarence (Mary) Russell, Mrs. Alexander (Olga) Herman, all of New Castle, and Mrs. Melvin (Eleanor) Miller of Sharon; 21 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Helen and John Proch and four brothers also preceded him in death.
The body has been taken to the Noga Funeral Home, S. Mill at Reynolds street where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and until the services on Sunday afternoon. Rev. Michael Radyk of Ellwood City will conduct the Parastases services in the funeral home today at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 7 p.m. Sunday funeral rites will begin with a blessing in the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. followed by High Requiem rites in Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church at 2 p.m. Rev. William Diakiev of Sharon will conduct the services on Sunday in the church.
Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery.
