WILLIAMSBURG - Ruby Cecil Pitts, 71, died Saturday, Aug. 25, in Williamsburg Community Hospital.
A native of New Kent County, Mrs. Pitts was a member of Olive Branch Christian Church. She was employed by A&P Grocery Store for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Miles A. Pitts Sr.; five daughters, Harriet Gritzmaker of Williamsburg, Bernice Burks and Patricia Larson, both of Mechanicsville, Eva Geier of Helena, Mont., and Laura Matschke of Norge; two sons, Miles A. Pitts Jr. of Fredericksburg and John L. Pitts of Gloucester; five sisters, Ola M. Richardson of Croaker, Myrtle Sweeney of Toano, Mary Hazelwood of New Kent County, Bessie Hazelwood of Lanexa and Emma Briggs of Quinton; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Bucktrout Funeral Home by the Rev. Joseph Roberson. Burial will be in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight in the funeral home.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the James City County Volunteer Rescue Squad, Toano 23168. Edition: Final
