Vernie Bailey, 82, of Panther, WV, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, WV.
Vernie was born April 24, 1933, in Panther, WV, a son of the late Gid Bailey (Deceased) and Molly Matney-Bailey (Deceased). He was a retired coal miner, a member of the U.M.W.A., and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Panther. He loved hunting and working in his yard.
In addition to his parents, Vernie was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Ann Stacy-Bailey (1936-1997) whom he married on April 24, 1954 in Panther, McDowell County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, McDowell County, WV, 1954, Page 296, Application Date: April 20, 1954); his second wife, Mindy Lockhart-Bailey (Deceased); one daughter, Cathy Christine Bailey-Lockhart (1955-2012); one son, Larry "Bucky" Kenneth Bailey (1964-2013); one grandson, Eric Edward Lockhart (1975-1997); three sisters, Maggie Bailey-Justice (1920-Deceased), Alice Bailey-Lester-Short (1923-2006), and Pauline Bailey-Wolford (Deceased); and three brothers, Ed Bailey (Deceased), Elzie Bailey (Deceased), and Earl Bailey (Deceased).
Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Bailey-Cline and husband Garland Cline of Mohawk, WV; one brother, Robert Bailey of Panther, WV; two sisters, Anna Rae Bailey of Beckley, WV, and Dorothy Bailey-Cline of Radcliff, KY; two grandchildren, Stephanie Genell Cline and husband Dusty of Princeton, WV, and Josh Cline and companion Tasha Morgan of Bee Branch; and two great grandchildren Kaylee and Kaden Cline of Princeton, WV.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 11 o'clock with Reverend Lawyer Bailey, Jr. and Deacon Ronnie Cline officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV. Burial will follow in the Walter Lambert Cemetery at Panther, WV.
