Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Covenant Emergency Care Center. Age 84 years. Daughter of the late Frank and Martha (Nowak) Krys, Rita was born March 25, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was married to Robert R. Gill on October 20, 1951. He predeceased her August 24, 2011. Rita was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, its Senior Club, and Knights of Columbus Council #4232 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed being with her family and especially her great-grandchildren.
Surviving are one son, two daughters and their spouses, Michael and Pam Gill, Kristina Reis, Sally and Jack Burt, a son-in-law, Dave Schneer, all of Saginaw; eight grandchildren, Cathy Heinlein, David Heinlein, Joe (Chelsea) Gill, Dana Gill, Stephanie (Juan) Guerra, Katie Burt, Lindsey Schneer, Shawn (Cindy) Schneer; nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Barbara Ott; her brother, Jerry (Gail) Krys; several nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Schneer and two sisters, Ruth Tomczak and Peggy Turner.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6400 McCarty Rd., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Randy Kelly will officiate. Honoring Mrs. Gill’s wishes cremation will follow with private entombment of cremains in St. Andrew Mausoleum. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. The Knights of Columbus Council #4232 Ladies Auxiliary will pray the Rosary at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
