Matt had lived in Fairport Harbor before moving to the Painesville area in 2000. He was newly engaged and loved fishing, shooting and collecting guns and was an avid video game player. As a child Matt loved playing football for the City of Painesville.
He had worked as a cook and landscaper. Matt was a loving son, grandson, and a great friend who looked forward to possibly being a dad one day.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bumpba and Louise Hammond; maternal grandparents, James and Alice Barcus; and his half-brother, William E. Hammond.
