Civil War Union soldier. He was drafted and mustered into federal service at Chambersburg on February 28, 1865, serving as a Private with the 91st Pennsylvania Volunteers Infantry, Company F. After falling ill, he was relieved from active duty on April 29, 1865, when he was discharged by a surgeon's certificate.

The son of William and Anna (Spangler) Yeatts, he married Mary C. Foulk on April 13, 1858, and fathered Charles Irvin (b. 08/07/62). In 1860, he was a farmer presumably living in or near Tyrone Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania, although he is not found in that census. Mary died January 24, 1864, and he married Mary Ann Allison November 29, 1864, fathering Elmer Allison (b. 07/08/68), Allen (b. ~1873), and Annie Elzena (b. 10/02/77). After the war, he worked as a farmer.

Some of his children were born in Franklin County, but in 1890 he resided in Menallen Township, Adams County, and died at age 67-7-18 in his son's home near Bendersville, just one month after Mary Ann had died.
