Mayfield Buried At Big Springs
Funeral services for Emmett Mayfield were held at the Big Springs Baptist Church last Thursday afternoon, Nov. 25, at 2:00 oclock, with the Rev. W. W. Lankford and the Rev. S. M. Penn officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Roanoke Funeral Home directed. Mr. Mayfield, prominent Randolph County citizen, was a veteran of World War I. His death occurred in the Veterans Hospital early last Tuesday morning, Nov. 23. He had been in failing health for several years. His body was brought to the home in the New Hope community, where it 'remained until the time of the funeral. Surviving Mr. Mayfield are his wife, Mrs. Hattie Gay Mayfield, of Wedowee, Rt. 2; and two sons: Euclid Mayfield, of Savannah, Ga., and Jackie Mayfield, of Wedowee, Rt. 2.
