Jean T. (Tuckerman) Swaim, formerly of Medfield and Cohasset, died peacefully in Plymouth on July 31, 2010. Born in Cohasset on May 17, 1916, she graduated from The Winsor School and then studied painting in Boston under John Lavalle. For more than forty years she worked as a volunteer at Massachusetts General Hospital. While a member of the Ladies Visiting Committee she conceived of, designed and saw published a simple illustrated translation book for hospital patients and staff. Point to Talk is available today in twenty|two languages. Widow of Stanley W. Swaim and previously Malcolm Bancroft, she is survived by two sons, Peter T. Swaim of Wellesley and William N. Bancroft of Medfield, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A private service has been held. Donations in her memory may be made to MGH Ladies Visiting Committee, Bigelow 015, Massachusetts General Hospital, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA 02114.
