Jonathan Patrick Wright, 31, of Davis, Oklahoma, went to be home with the Lord on April 22, 2016. He was born June 21, 1984, in Norman, Oklahoma, to Milton and Sharon Wright. He was lovingly welcomed home by his two sisters, Jennifer and Angela. Jonathan and his family moved to Lindsay in 1992, at the beginning of his second grade year in school. As a very young child, Jonathan loved Jesus, and let anyone who was around him know about his faith in Christ. He made his salvation experience public at Calvary Baptist Church in Lindsay. He graduated from Lindsay High School in 2003. After graduation he attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. When he moved to Ada, he immediately became an active member of the Fitzhugh Baptist Church, south of Ada. On campus, he was active in and worked with the University Campus Ministries. His involvement with the UCM provided many opportunities to serve on Mission trips, going to New Orleans after hurricane Katrina, volunteering for Habitats for Humanity and participating in churches with food for needy programs. Jonathan traveled to India for ten days and traveled into Pakistan for thirty days with the International Mission Board. Jonathan left ECU and continued his education at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in math and a minor in applied ministries. A few years later Jonathan felt led to start work on his master’s degree, so he moved to Wake Forest, North Carolina, where he attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jonathan was employed by the Baptist General Convention State Church Camp, Falls Creek, in Davis, Oklahoma. He started working at Falls Creek at the age of 17. He even referred to Falls Creek as home. He served in several positions through the years; working the gate, courtesy staff, safety, night patrol, maintenance staff; starting at the bottom level and working his way up. Jonathan would go to work at other jobs in other places but the Lord would always lead him back to Falls Creek. He was currently working as one of the camp’s caretakers. People who knew Jonathan, respected him. He was a kind, gentle, very polite young man. He always left a positive impression on those with whom he came in contact. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He put others first, and himself and his desires last. Jonathan loved the Lord above all else. He felt blessed when he was asked to preach at various churches around his community, especially his home church, Dougherty Baptist Church, in Dougherty, Oklahoma. He was an avid reader and enjoyed deep scholarly discussions with his friends. His main hobby was collecting comic books but he loved attending “Mud Runs” with J.T. his nephew. Jonathan lived each day to the fullest and touched so many lives through his walk with the Lord. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and acquaintances. Jonathan was survived by his mother, Sharon Wright; sisters, Jennifer Taylor and husband Chris, and Angela Wright; nephew J.T. Adkins, all of Lindsay; cousin, Hannah Medrano, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Aunt Kathy and Doyle McWhorter of Carrolton, Texas; Uncle Floyd and Aunt Ginger Wright of Foster, Oklahoma; Aunt Lue Wright of Rush Springs, Oklahoma; Aunt Bobbie McCaslin of Marlow, Oklahoma; and a host of other cousins and friends. Jonathan was preceded in death by his father Milton Wayne Wright; his grandparents, Bud and Ruth Lindsey, and Madison and Anna Wright; Aunts: Mary Isabelle Farley, Ferne Geffre, Saundra Lindsey; and Uncles: Philmore Wright, and Lloyd Wright. Services for Jonathan were held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at the First Baptist Church, Lindsay, Oklahoma, at two o’clock P.M. Pastor Alan McCoy officiated.
