Gordon served in the U.S. Army in World War II with combat engineers, in the European Theater. He was a 1935 graduate of Cherry Tree High School. Gordon was a lifetime member of Madison V.F.W. Post 8548, a member of Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons and a member of Madison Coin Club. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, singing and going to garage sales. He was a people person and enjoyed being with family, friends and grandchildren.
He is survived by beloved wife of 67 years; Betty Bailey of Madison, two sons; Jerry (Mary) Bailey of Madison and Phil Bailey of Caledonia, Ontario, Canada, granddaughter; Denise (Herb) Schiemann of Madison, grandson; Doug (Gina) Bailey of Madison, and 7 great-grandchildren; Sara, Emily, and Andrew Schiemann, and Dylan, Douglas, Drew Gerald, and Mary Elizabeth Grace Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; and 1 sister.
Burial will be in North Madison Cemetery.
