Jo Ann Curry Mathews Palmer, age 60, of Rutherfordton, N.C., died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.

Jo Ann was born April 5, 1953 in Rutherford County, N.C., to the late James Curry I and Dorothy Mathis Curry.

She graduated from High School in Gulfport, Mississippi and held an Associate's Degree from Isothermal Community College. Jo Ann worked many years as a Graphic Artist in the Textile Industry. Besides her passion for art, she also enjoyed gardening and cooking for all of her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Palmer.

Survivors include her daughter, Emily Bowers and husband, Scott of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Trudy Nikolas and husband, Steve of Corinth, Texas and Janice Greene and husband, James of Forest City; one brother, James Curry II and wife, Julia of Boiling Springs, S.C. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Fiona, Gideon and Rio Bowers.
