Pfc. J. N. Baiz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lucio Baiz, 415 Fremont St., Laredo, born Dec. 25, 1918, in Mexico; he received his education in Laredo; entered the service on Sept. 16, 1942, at Dodd Field, San Antonio; and was assigned to the Army 25th Inf. Div., -35 Inf. G. Co., training at Camp Roberts, Calif., and Ft. Benning, Ga., in the Paratroops. Served overseas with the above Co. and Div. in the following battles: Vella Lavella, North Solomons Islands, North Luzon, P.I. He was wounded on Luzon, 1945, and awarded: Asiatic Pac. Campaign, 2 Stars; Combat Inf. Badge; Purple Heart; Philippine Lib. 1 Star. Hon, discharged Nov. 30, 1945.
