Isabel A. (Swope) Bittinger, 78, of 112 Maple St., Mont Alto, died at 10:57 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 1995 in Waynesboro Hospital. She had been in failing health since suffering a stroke in April.
Born April 14, 1917, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Alvey G. and Mary Ruth
(Buhrman) Swope. She had lived her early life in Waynesboro. Mrs. Bittinger and her husband
of 54 years, Daniel Edgar Bittinger were married July 3, 1941. They moved to the present residence in 1947. In her early life, she was employed at the Mont Alto Shoe Factory.
Mrs. Bittinger volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America in Mont Alto and also volunteered
with the HELP hotline in Quincy. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Darlene
R. Williams, of Mont Alto; four sons, Daniel Lee Bittinger of Marion, Dennis R. Bittinger and Bernard "Benne" Bittinger, both of Waynesboro, and James A. Bittinger of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren; and a brother, Fred Swope of Oklahoma City, Ok. She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with the
Revs. J.P. Bohanan and Phyllis J. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mont
Alto.
