Sacred to the memory of Sir John Eardley Eardley-Wilmot Bart of Berkswell Hall in this parish late Lt Governor of Van Diemans Land who was born Feb 21 AD 1783 and died at Hobart Town where his remains are interred. He was the only son of John Eardley-Wilmot Esq of Bruce Castle county Middlesex MP and grandson of the Rt Hon Sir John Eardley-Wilmot late Lord Chief Justice of the Court of Common Kt. He married firstly May 21 AD 1808 Elizabeth Emma daughter of Caleb Hillier Parry Esq of the City of Bath MD and had by her who died 1818 eight children viz John Eardley, Frederick Marow, Edward Revell, Arthur Parry, Henry Robert, Augustus Hillier, Elizabeth Emma Eardley and Selina Matilda Caroline. He married secondly 31 Aug 1819 Eliza daughter of Sir Robert Chester Kt and by her had issue 5 children viz Robert who died an infant, Robert Charles, Chester Charles Octavius, Eliza Harriott and Dulcibella Cecilia who died June 11th 1838 aged 11 years and is buried in a vault adjoining. He was Chairman of the Warwickshire Quarter Sessions for 15 years and represented the northern Division of the same County in four successive Parliaments. His widow and children have placed this tablet to his memory 1849 "They that sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him" 1 Thess iv 14.
