Shawn E. Gibson, 56, of Larwill, Ind., passed away at 1:17 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at his home. Born November 28, 1959 in Columbia City, he was the son of Jesse L. Gibson and Diana S. (Wood) Bagley.
Shawn attended Columbia City Joint High School before moving to Florida. After returning to Columbia City, he was out with friends when he met Sharon K. Dovey. The two would go on to be married on November 28, 1989. A life time mechanic, he enjoyed working on engines, cars and motorcycles. He loved riding his Harley and spending time with his son Logan out in his shop. Since 2014, he had worked at Coupled Products in Columbia City.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Gibson; mother, Diana S. Bagley of Warsaw; son, Logan Gibson of Ft. Wayne; step-son, Brian Hutton of Ft. Wayne; step-daughter, Erin (Mike) Stinson of Preble; sister, Syrenia (Dan) Hilliard of Warsaw; brothers, Rob LeRoy Gibson of South Whitley, Shane LeRoy Gibson of Columbia City and Jeffrey D. (Julie) Gibson of Columbia City, Dave (Sandy) Hatcher of Warsaw and Tim Hatcher of Warsaw; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Gibson; infant son, Bradly Gibson; and step-son, Steven Hutton.
Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2016 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City with his funeral services starting at 2 p.m. Certified Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus will be officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his son in Greenhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made towards his final expenses, I.C.O. DeMoney-Grimes.
