Alfred Herbert Johnson, 97 of Kokomo passed away April 13, 2016 at Northwood Commons. Alfred was born October 20, 1918 in Charleston, MO the son of Alexander and Dolly Johnson. On September 5, 1939 he married Jean (Penwell) Johnson, she preceded him in death. Mr. Johnson was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a 32nd degree, fifty year member of the Masons. He was a Past Monarch Grotto. He was a past President of the Kokomo Shrine Club. He was also a Shrine clown. He was a member of U.A.W. post 292. Mr. Johnson was one of the few who started the Solidarity Credit Union. He also enjoyed yard work.

Alfred is survived by three daughters, Sue (Robert) Moss; Nancy Shipley (John) Brown both of Kokomo; Diana (Larry) Blades of Sharpsville; one Son-in-Law Robert Brown; 8 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great Grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Johnson, one daughter Priscilla Brown, one Grand Daughter, Linda Phillips and one son in law Jim Shipley; also preceding him in death is one brother and five sisters.

In Lieu of flowers Memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.

Visitation hours will be held Wednesday April 20, 2016 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. There will be a Masonic Rites ceremony at 12:45 p.m. at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life immediately following on Wednesday April 20, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset memory Garden Funeral home 2097 W. Alto Rd Kokomo, with Pastor Steven Sherwood officiating. Entombment will be at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery with Military Honors.
