Heinrich Dietrich Harjehausen, 91, of Albany, Oregon, died Thursday, February 8, 2001, at Timber View Care Center in Albany. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 10, 2001, at Huston-Jost Funeral Home, with Pastor Ron Hotrum officiating. Burial took place at Eternal Hills Cemetery in Oceanside, California.
Harjehausen was born on January 13, 1910, in Little Rock, Iowa, the son of Henry and Augusta (Grewe) Harjehausen. He married Della Saunders on Nov.21, 1930, in Lake Park, Iowa. In 1978, he moved to California, and in 1993, he settled in Oregon. He was a farmer, gas station and restaurant owner and operator, and a liquor store operator in the state of Iowa. He also was a school superintendent in Iowa.
Harjehausen enjoyed farming. He was a member of the Broken Column Masonic Lodge in Sibley, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Della Harjehausen; son Denton Harjehausen, of Lebanon; brother Arnold Harjehausen, of Des Moines, Iowa; sister Mary Jean Arnold; 3 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Two brothers and two sisters died before him.
