Cassie Collins Simmons Jr., 58, of Anderson, departed this life April 19, 2016.
He was born June 8, 1957, in Glendora, Mississippi, to the late Cassie Simmons, Sr. and Charlotte Collins Byrd.
Cassie was self employed as an automobile mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, walking, watching Westerns and the Syfy channel and traveling to see other family. He was well known throughout Anderson.
Cassie leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Charlotte Collins Simmons Byrd; son Thomas Fairer Simmons; daughter Jennifer Clayton of Anderson; special friend Georgina Clayton, Muncie; sisters, Mary Curry, Michigan City, Indiana, Diana Reese, Fonza Reese both of Chicago, Jean Hollowell, Eliza Stokes, Mary Simmons of Anderson; brothers Billy Simmons, Greenwood, Mississippi, Dan E. Simmons, Anderson, Lou (Ruthann) Simmons, Fishers, Clifford (Valerie) Byrd, Fort Lee, Virginia; plus 13 other siblings; 330 nieces and nephews; 115 great-nieces and great-nephews; aunt Thelma (Willie, Sr.) Jones of Anderson and uncle Willie James Campbell, Lambert,Mississippi.
He is also survived by cousins Willie (Elaine) Jones Jr., Lee (Phoebe) Jones, Betty Spearman, Frankie (Rita) Anderson, Charlie Broadax, Dean Griffin, Jackie McClendon; family friends the Lewis, Carter, Parker and Logan families and Thomas Hawkins; and brother-in-law James Stokes, Sr.
Homegoing services will be at noon Thursday at Miracle Faith Temple. Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon at the church. Elders Willie Fuller and Robert Williams and Dr. Bernice Tolbert will officiate. Burial in Maplewood Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to L.C. May Funeral Services.
