The funeral for John R. Frawley will be Friday, 11 am, December 3rd at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville. Burial with military honors will follow in Woodside Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, December 2nd from 2 pm - 4 pm and 7 pm - 9 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Belleville Volunteer Fire Department, Belleville, NY 13611.

Mr. Frawley, 83, of the Joslyn Rd., Ellisburg, passed away Monday in the emergency room of the Samaritan Medical Center.

He was born in the Town of Adams, March 22, 1927, a son to Joseph and Alice Dunham Frawley.

He graduated from Union Academy Belleville. John served with the US Navy during WW II from May of 1945 until June of 1946. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, John returned to the North Country. He was a self employed carpenter, working with many contractor's to include, Lunmans, Stony Island, and Charles Brown to name a few. He also was a truck driver and snow plow operator for the Town of Ellisburg.

Mr. Frawley was a 50 year plus member of the Belleville Volunteer Fire Department. He had served as Fire Chief and Secretary / Treasurer for many years within the department.

He was a life member of the Adams VFW, and bowled at the Adams Bowl and later the South Jeff Lanes in several leagues.

John married Sarena H. Douglas, August 11, 1961.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick R. and Kelly, Rochester. Three grandchildren. A step daughter, Sarena Joyce Reisman, Columbus, Ohio. Seven step grandchildren. A niece, Patricia (Frawley) Seyer, Lacona. Two nephews, Theodore J. Frawley, Williamson and Joseph R. Frawley, Belleville. Two great nephews and one great niece. He was predeceased by a brother Floyd C. Frawley and a step-son, Charles Reisman
