Louise loved her family and was equally loved by many. Fishing at her lake home at Kerr Lake is where Louise found her joy. She was lovingly known as "Granny" by her family and "Nanny by the extended family she acquired while being cared for at Lee's Long-Term Care in Raleigh, NC. The smell of Louise's chicken n' dumplings and chocolate pies will forever linger in the memories of her family. Throughout her life and illness, she will also be remembered for her strength and loving nature.
Survivors include her son, Doug Holder (Norma) of Durham, NC; daughters, Vicky Lee (Tony) of Raleigh, Joyce Thomas (James) of Marshville, NC, and Betty Lou Hicks (Raymond) of Oxford, NC; brother, Elwood Phipps of Timberlake, NC; sisters, Gladys George of Durham, NC, and Delia Poole of Butner, NC. She leaves behind her beloved 12 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren who knew her as "Granny" and "Nanny." Louise is preceded in death by her life partner of over 40 years, Billy Dean, her husband James Holder, and four brothers.
A visitation will be held at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, April 22nd, 2016 at 11 a.m. A service will follow in the chapel at 12 p.m. with Pastor James Shelley of First Baptist Church in Creedmoor, NC officiating. Interment will then proceed to Woodlawn Cemetery in Durham, NC.
