He served 4 years in the Army, and in July 1959 he enlisted in the Air Force from which he retired in 1975. He was proud to have served his country and to have been an American Veteran. Roger began his second career at the U.S. Postal Service in Austin, serving six years as a window clerk at the Oak Hill Station.
Roger was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Maxine & Alfred Smith, father, Roger Eugene Duncan, and brother John Duncan.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lonna Duncan, daughters, Lin Duncan & Sandy Rubalcava, grandchildren, Samantha Duncan, Dillon, Shey, and Avery Rubalcava, sisters, Diane Smith, Lee Ann Dickey and her husband Shaun, brother David Smith and their families. He is also survived by special relatives Donna Hirschfield, Daryl & Anne Richardson, and special friends Ruben Guerrero, Derrick Rubalcava, and Richard Ryals.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, the nursing home care givers, and their family & friends for all their love and support. A Celebration of his Life will be held at Beck Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas with a reception to follow. Roger's final resting place will be at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
