APPLETON - Leo N. Berg, 81, of 3025 W Wisconsin Ave., died Sunday morning after a short illness.

Born June 1, 1895, in the Town of Greenville, he had farmed in the Town of Grand Chute all his life. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society of the church, Catholic Order of Foresters and honorary member of the Greenville Civic Club. A veteran of World War I, he was a charter member and past commander of the John Barry Post of the Catholic War Veterans. He had served as clerk of the Triangle School District No. 2 of the Town of Grand Chute for 21 years.

Surviving are six daughters, 11 sons, two brothers, 55 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

His first wife, Mary Gitter Berg, preceded him in death in 1930, and his second wife, Isabel Grall Berg, died in 1959.

A concelebrated funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Hortonville.

Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home from 3 to 9 p.m. today, and on Tuesday at 8 a.m. A prayer service will be held at 8 this evening."
