Helen Bird Abel, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the home of her daughter, Sally and Ron Schuman on April 5, 2000.She was born August 26, 1912, in Moroni, Utah to Kenneth James Bird and Lola Jane Bradley. Helen mar-ried Lennis E. Abel in the Salt Lake Temple on January 3, 1934.Helen will be best remembered for her kindness, love and devotion to her family and friends. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as Sunday school teacher, choir member and a volunteer to many organizations. Helen had a beautiful voice and will be remembered for her participation in many musical activities. She brought sunshine to this world with her beautiful smile.Helen wanted to express a special thanks to Ron and Sally for their loving role as a care giver in her final years and to the great compassion and service expressed to her by her family.Helen is survived by her children, George (Cheryl) Abel, Sally (Ron) Schuman, son-in-law, Fred Worlton; sisters, Lucille Webb, Kathryn Wooton and Ruth Hales. 15 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lennis; daughter, Jean Worlton; brother, George Bird; and sister, Marjorie Bird.Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 8, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Goff Mortuary Chapel, 8090 South State, Midvale, where friends may call one hour prior to services.Interment in American Fork.
