"Curtis proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European theater, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge, during which he received a Purple Heart.

"Curtis was later employed as a map maker with the U.S. Geological Survey for 15 years and later with Elkhart County for 30 years prior to his retirement at the age of 80.

"He was a member of St. Mary Orthodox Church in Goshen and the John Birch Society.

"Curtis often enjoyed outdoor activities with family, spending time birdwatching, mountain climbing and skiing, and he loved observing Hebrew and Christian traditions."

Mr. Brown was a very nice man who told funny stories. He was at church every week, up at the front. May his memory be eternal.
