S. A. D. Cox Funeral Monday At Humboldt

Humboldt, Jan. 19 --- Funeral services for Stephen Angus Douglas Cox, former Humboldt newspaper man who died in Kansas City last Sunday wee conduced yesterday afternoon at the Johnson funeral home by the Rev. Charles R. Martin. Burial was at Mt. Hope cemetery.
Mr. Cox was born in Macon county, Illinois in 1863, coming to Humboldt as a child with his parents in 1878. His first job here was with the W. W. Curdy dry goods store. After a time in Kansas City he returned to Humboldt and was employed as a printer by H. D. Smith. In 1887 Mr. Cox started the Humboldt Herald which he published for sixteen years.
In the early 1900's he accepted a position as editor for the Frank Tousey Publishing Company, White Plains, New York. Later he returned to Humboldt and continued his literary pursuits. In 1908 he published the only daily newspaper Humboldt has known.
Mr. Cox served as postmaster at Humboldt during the Cleveland administration. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. For the past several years he has made his home in Kansas City. At death he was 80 years old.
He leaves his widow at the home; a brother, Charles Cox, San Diego, California, and a niece, Mrs. Grace Ross, Humboldt.
