Herb worked as a Civil Conservation Corp. worker in the early 1930's, and while living for a period of time in Hurley, NM he worked in the copper mines. Herb and Dorothy left their home in Garfield, NM several times but always returned, living in California, Oregon and as close as Las Uvas Valley near Hatch. In 1990 Herb and Dorothy left Garfield one last time and moved to Las Cruces, NM. Herb was a member of the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church. While in Las Cruces one of his biggest joys was having his grandchildren over to play Monopoly and Dominoes. Herb will be deeply missed by all his beloved family and friends. He is survived by: his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Christian of Las Cruces, son, Herbert D. Christian of Ogden Utah, and wife Carol. Daughters: Martha Means of Las Cruces and Carol Carson of Rincon. Grandchildren, Keith Christian, Kenneth Christian, Carrie Christian, Kyle Christian, Catelyn Christian, Joe Brown, James Brown, Debra Matthew, Nicholas Carson, Kelsey Carson, Tory Carson, and Chandler Carson. Great-grandchildren, Travis Brown, Leah Brown, Aaron Matthew, Ashley Brown, Bradley Christian, Carley Christian, and Kiersten Christian. Herb is survived by brothers, Melvin Christian, Virgil Christian and Charles Christian. Herb was preceded in death by his mother, Nora Christian, his father, J. Thomas Christian, and one sister, Alma Gardner, his brothers John Christian, Joe Christian, and Tom Christian. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 AM on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at Abundant Life Assembly of God Church, 1980 Spruce Ave., Las Cruces. The Funeral Service will follow also at Abundant Life Church at 11 AM. Officiating will be Pastor James Pinckard. Concluding services and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
