LeRoy Kenneth Benjamin,69

December 31, 1930 ~ May 8, 2000

LeRoy was born December 31, 1930 in Brighton, Colorado to Charles E. and Eunice (Poole) Benjamin. His family had been living in Nebraska before he was born, and returned to Fremont, Nebraska afterwards, so his parents and siblings were all born in Nebraska.

In 1940, he and his family were living at 841 S. Broad, Fremont, Nebraska. His father, Charles, was an operator of a used car parts store. His oldest sister, Dorothy, then 17, had just entered the work force, doing housework for a private family. His oldest brother, Eugene, then 16, was also a new worker, with automobiles. LeRoy and his other brothers and sisters were living at home. That year, LeRoy was in 3rd grade. The dining room must have been full at mealtimes: besides his parents, 8 children were at home, including Dorothy and Eugene.

He married Bertha May (McPherson). She had been married before, but LeRoy and Bertha are buried side by side in Memorial Cemetery.
