Frank Hardy Barfield, 90, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at his daughter's home in Abilene, Texas. He was a resident of Sweetwater.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Tommy Kind and Billy Whisenant officiating. Interment with military graveside honors will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.

Mr. Barfield was born on July 3, 1925 in Sweetwater, Texas. Frank was a lifelong resident of Sweetwater and a member of Fourth & Elm Church of Christ. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army from November 19, 1943 to January 22, 1946.

His work career took him to Whooten Wholesale Grocery from 1945 to 1952, Pace Packing in December 1952 to July 1987, and then to Lone Star Industries (as Packhouse Foreman) where he retired after 34 years and 7 months.

The family would like to express their love and give a special thanks to the people who were care givers for Mr. Barfield: Laura Canada, Adalena Guerrero, Mary Castro and Elidia Serrano will never be forgotten in our hearts.

Survivors include: 4 Daughters-Vickie Smith of Belton, TX, Joy Gay and husband, David, of San Angelo, TX, Tracey Carrigan and husband, Steve, of Abilene, TX, Leslie Headrick and husband, Max, of Sweetwater, TX; Sister-Evelyn Merle Barfield Elrod of Big Spring, Texas; 8 Grandchildren-Steven Smith and wife, Jennifer, of Dallas, Barrett Smith and wife, Kelly, of Wylie, TX, Jenny Gay Stallard and husband, Chris, of San Angelo, TX, Jonathan Gay and wife, Amanda, of San Angelo, Sarah Carrigan Fears and husband, Daniel, of Murchison, TX, Molly Carrigan Abrigg and husband, Peter, of Lewisville, TX, Rex Headrick of Lubbock, TX, Rob Headrick and wife, Sarah, of Irving, TX; and 14 Great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Anne Barfield, on October 19, 2015; his parents, Henry Edward and Lillian Maude (Peterson) Barfield; two brothers, William Edward Barfield and Henry Eldon Barfield; and two sisters, Nina Belle Barfield Holbert and Lillian Gail Barfield Craig.

Pallbearers are his grandsons and grandson-in-law: Steven Smith, Barrett Smith, Johnathan Gay, Rex Headrick, Rob Headrick, Peter Abrigg, Daniel Fears and Chris Stallard.
