Erwin Jack Harrison, 90, of Clearwater, passed away April 17, 2016.

Erwin was born in New Haven, CT and served in the Army Air Forces during World War II. In the army, he worked as a technical sergeant, radio operator, and aerial gunner with the 547th bomb squadron and 384th bomb group. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut. Erwin worked for many years as a manager in the alarm industry. He was past president of B’nai B’rith in New Haven, past president of the Golda Meir Kent JCC in Clearwater, and longtime board member and member of Temple B’nai Israel Clearwater. Erwin also taught 8th grade Hebrew school as well as being a substitute teacher in the Pinellas County School System. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him dearly.


Erwin is survived by his children, Drew (Martha) Harrison, of St. Petersburg, Wendy (Mark) Greenberg of Guilford, CT, and Amie (Rob) Hauser of Clearwater; sister, Zelda (late George) Swirsky; brother, Kenneth (Reyna) Harrison, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Lois Pickus Harrison; and parents, Ida & Max Harrison.


Graveside services will be held at 12:45 pm on Thursday, April 21st at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., St. Petersburg, where military honors will be rendered. Shiva following service will be observed at the home of Amie and Rob Hauser, 7241 Danbury Way, Clearwater, Florida 33764.


In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Erwin’s memory to ms4ms.org.

David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Central Avenue Chapel in St. Petersburg is serving the family.
