Lt. Col. Harold Dale Acton, (Ret.), 84, of Waco, passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Beverly Hills Baptist Church with Bro. Carol Hambrick officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park.

Harold was born in Mt. View, Texas, to the late Albert and Julia (Grant) Acton. On Oct. 3, 1943, he married Loraine Parton in Wichita Falls, and they recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. He served 26 years in the U. S. Air Force, retiring as a Lt. Col. He was a member and deacon at Beverly Hills Baptist Church for 45 years, and he taught Sunday school there for many of those years. He loved to work, and he always did the job right. He was a pilot, and he loved to fly.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Acton.

Survivors include his wife, Loraine, of Waco; sons, Jeff Acton and Steve Acton, both of Waco; grandchildren, Crystal, Shiloh, and Cheyenne Acton; great-grandchild, Zachary Acton; brother, James Acton, of Pasadena; sister, Arlyn Moore, of Naples, Fla.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
