Sammy Harris, 59

Sammy Harris, 59, of Edwards Avenue, Richmond, passed away Sunday, October, 8, 2006, in his home.

He was born on April 14, 1947, in Madison County. He was a member of First Nazarene Church and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver for Overbay Trucking and was a Kentucky Colonel.

He was preceded in death by: his father, Archie Harris; his grandparents, Morris and Bessie "Ma" Kelley and James and Cordelia Harris.

Survivors include: his mother, Christeen Harris of Richmond; one brother, Bobby (Sandra) Harris of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Lois (Ben) Holbrook of Lexington; his son, Tony (Ova Jean) Harris of Waco; one granddaughter, Amberlyn Harris of Waco; and a special friend, Gary Whittaker.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October, 11, 2006, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Masters officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond Cemetery with full military rites observed.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Combs, Parsons and Collins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Clarence Fain, Ron Scott, Jeff Gilliam, Gary Portwood, John Smith and Larry Carpenter.

The family would like to thank Hospice Care Plus Chaplain, the Rev. Tommy Masters and the Rev. Bill Masters for their consoling help.
