Rita R. Hein (DuChateau), Appleton, age 90, was quietly called to her eternal home April 16,2016 with her family by her bedside after a short illness. She was born in Carney, Michigan to Clarence and Elizabeth (LaRoche) DuChateau January 24,1926.
Rita and her family moved from Michigan to Appleton when she was 8 years old. She attended St. Mary's School and she graduated from Appleton High School in 1943. After high school she worked and attended Oshkosh State Teachers College where she met and fell in love with Florian.
Rita and Florian were married on September 11,1948. Together they built their family around faith and love. They raised 11 children and spent 61 years in marriage until Florian's passing in 2010. She loved her family dearly. She enjoyed traveling, the annual family camp out, a good game of Sheepshead, and Saturday mornings at her house with family. She was an active member of St. Therese Parish. She was a member of Christian Mothers, and the Catholic Knights Society.
Rita is survived by her 11 children: Michael, Edie, Richard (Dar), David, Cathy Fietzer, Jean (Bruce) Carow, Jim (Lori), Joe (Jiyon), Linda, Terri (Daniel) Meyer and Mary; 26 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Mary (Walter) McCanna, sisters-in-law: Lorie DuChateau and Alice (Gerald) Plog; three brothers -in-law: Gerald (Mary) Hein, Merlin (Ann) Hein and Robert Ferron; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers: Hubert and Charles DuChateau, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Helen and Martin Hein, sisters-in-law: Dorothy DuChateau, Delores Dexheimer and Marie Ferron; brothers-in-law: Clarence, Robert and Thomas Hein.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 213 E Wisconsin Ave, Appleton with Father Bill Hoffman officiating. Family and friends may visit April 21, 2016 from 4: 00p.m to 8:00 p.m. at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Friends may call directly at the church from 9:00a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
