Gary D. Boocks, 77, formerly of Fertigs, died at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2016, at the Golden Living Center-Oil City. Born Nov. 6, 1938, in Fertigs, he was a son of Frank E. and Dorothy Marie Oakes Boocks.

He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps for 12 years, did three tours of duty in Vietnam, was in the Battle of Khe Sanh and received a Purple Heart. He was employed at GE in Erie.

Surviving are two daughters, Wendy and Sara, both in Orlando, FL; two brothers and two sisters, Thomas D. Boocks, Jean V. Rodgers, Elaine S. Stover and Terry A. Boocks; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters: William Boocks, Howard Boocks, Carol Keffer, Doris Rancatore, Shirley Bupp, Larry Boocks, Kathleen Rowan, Frank Boocks and Phil Boocks.

Services will be held at Morrison Funeral Home with Rev. James Waugh officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the VETS Honor Guard. Interment will be in Perry Cemetery.
